Aitor Castillo’s reply to request of information on Honorio Delgado

Delgado was born in Arequipa, a region in Peru, where the people are chauvinistic and competitive. He lived his entire life in Lima.

He had apparently sufficient funds in his youth to travel to Europe where he became acquainted with Sigmund Freud.  After his return from Europe Delgado became involved first in psychoanalysis, but his interest shifted to biological psychiatry. He is remembered as the psychiatrist, who introduced chlorpromazine in Peru. 

Delgado was one of the founders of Cayetano Heredia University where I began with my studies.
