Lithium: Discovered, Forgotten and Rediscovered
In 2009 Dr. Samuel Gershon was invited by the History Committee of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology to present the biannual History Lecture at the Annual Meeting of the College in December at the Loew’s Hotel in Miami, Florida. The full text of his lecture with the title Lithium - Discovered, Forgotten and Rediscovered, was deposited in INHN’s electronic archives (Gershon Collection) on August 1, 2013.
Psychopharmacological specificity of the lithium ion
In August 2010 Samuel Gershon, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh was the recipient of the John Curtin Medical Research Medal for original and translational medical research. The medal is given annually by the Australian National University (ANU) in honor of John Curtin, Prime Minister of Australia during World War II.
The award winning ceremony was held in August 2010 at the John Curtin Medical Research Building of the ANU in Canberra, Australia.
Dr. Gershon used these 15 slides deposited in INHN’s electronic archives (Gershon Collection) in his presentation with the title “Discoveries & Their Trajectories Psychopharmacological Specificity of Lithium” at the award winning ceremonies.
