Ken Gillman: Medical science publishing: A slow-motion train wreck

Hector Warnes’ reply to Samuel Gershon’s comment on Warnes’ comment

The Journal of Bipolar Disorders co-edited by Professor Gershon should become a standard reference as one of the best Journals in our discipline because it publishes papers on neuroscientific research, pharmacology research and clinical psychiatry of the highest quality. Professor Gershon’s career has been a model of painstaking research in our field since his first publication in 1955. I could not agree more that we must introduce a set of strict criteria for selecting, out of a staggering number of publications in dozens of journals, those which are singular, original, use research principles or have clinical import of substance.
