I did not refer to Freud, Kretschmer and to the many others conceptualization and classification of depression because I did not find them relevant to research needed to resolve the pharmacological heterogeneity of depression. If you think they could help identifying subpopulations of depression responsive to pharmacological treatment, please elaborate further. Regardless of their relevance to psychopharmacology, I enjoyed reading the bits of historical information you brought to attention in your comment.
