This thread does indeed provide an excellent and extensive discussion of many of the problems that exist in the scientific literature and the distortions that are presented in some of the material published.
In my latest notes to this thread I stressed that some of the deleterious effects that have been discussed are already causing serious impairments of the educational processes for medical students and thus directly for patients. For example our colleague Mike Fineberg has suggested that it might be more appropriate to call our modern medical graduates MICRODOCS. I tend to think that this appellation is more in keeping with our modern graduates.
