Definition: Complex, elaborate, coordinated movements or acts performed involuntarily with no or only partial recollection that they occurred (Oyebode 2008).

Exploration: The presence of automatism is detected by observation and established by interaction with patient to ascertain that he/she has no or only partial recollection of the event that occurred.
