INFORMATION ON CONTENTS: INHN 2013 is divided into 11 parts, complemented by a “Foreword” written by Thomas A. Ban and Carlos Morra, a “Preface” written by the editor of the book and a portrait of Dr. Leon S. Morra (1882—1948), in dedication to the Founder of the Morra Sanatorium after whose family is named the Fundación Morra, the vigor behind the INHN Publisher. This book includes all papers (essays, vignettes, comments, replies, responses) posted on the website of the International Network for the History of Neuropsychopharmacology (INHN) in 2013 with the exception of those posted in the website’s electronic archives.  INHN was founded in mid-2012 with the primary goal to develop educational material relevant to the historical developments of the field. In the subsequent year, on May 23, 2013, the Network launched its website and began posting material submitted by Network members for discussion.  Corresponding with the website, the material in this book is presented under 11 headings: 1. Historical dictionary of neuropsychopharmacology; 2. Historical drug Inventory of psychotropic drugs; 3. Photo history of neuropsychopharmacology; 4. Profiles of distinguished neuropsychopharmacologists; 5. Controversies in the history of neuropsychopharmacology; 6. Textbook on the history of neuropsychopharmacology; 7. Discoveries in neuropsychopharmacology that have not been followed-up or could not be replicated; 8. Information on books in neuropsychopharmacology — classic and current; 9. Biographies, autobiographies and selected writings of neuropsychopharmacologists; 10. Historical perspective in neuropsychopharmacology — information from and comments on current publications in neuropsychopharmacology; and 11. Electronic EBOOKS in neuropsychopharmacology.

AUTHOR’S STATEMENT: INHN 2013 is a transformation of an almost “living and breathing” electronic medium into the more conventional paper record for permanence.  Accordingly, it suffers from the telescoping of time and the retrospective ordering of the sequences of discussions.  Some elements of the postings have needed to be excluded, e.g., the archives, due predominantly to space limitations in a print medium.  Nevertheless, INHN 2013 does reliably convey the feeling of what it was like to sift, write and even create a historical record of the rapidly evolving field of neuropsychopharmacology, looking backward towards its origins.  From this volume, we hope that the organization of the material under each heading in a conventional alphabetical and chronological order will render the vignettes, essays, chapters and reviews more readily accessible for educational and other purposes. Additionally, each contribution can now be properly referenced as part of the historical record of the field of neuropsychopharmacology.
